Math Placement Exam

This test is to establish your readiness for MS 101, College Algebra. The test has a 90-minute time limit and must be completed in one sitting. There are 33 multiple choice questions. Questions must be answered in order. If you lose your internet connection, immediately go back in, as the clock will continue to run.

Your score on this test will determine your initial math course. It does not give you college credit. All Brenau students, regardless of major, must take at least one college level math course.

Only the first attempt on the test will be accepted for math placement.

Score Placement

0-37 MS 100

38-54 MS 101/Lab

55-79 MS 101

80-100 MS 111*

*Students who make over 80 on the math placement test are placed in MS 111 PreCalculus. They may take the Calculus Placement Test to see if they can place directly in Calculus. Placing in a higher math course does not carry college credit for any other math course.

After you finish the placement exam, please print out the score for your records. E-mail the Registrar's Office at registrar@brenau.edu with your score. The Registrar's Office will enable your registration for MS 101; however, you are responsible for the registration. When you meet with your adviser, bring the printout of your score. If you are an online student, please email your score to your adviser. If you communicate with your adviser by phone, please have your score available.

Calculus Placement Exam

Do NOT take this test unless you scored 80 or higher on the regular placement test. This test is to establish your readiness for MS 210, Calculus and Analytic Geometry. It has a 60-minute time limit and must be taken in one sitting. If you score at or above 80% on the Calculus Placement Exam, you will be eligible to take MS 210. If you score below 80%, you will enroll in MS 111, Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry.

After you finish the placement exam, please print out the score for your records. Email the Registrar's Office at registrar@brenau.edu with your score. If you are eligible, the Registrar's Office Staff member will enable your registration for MS 210; however, you are responsible for the registration. When you meet with your adviser, bring the printout of your score. If you are an online student, please email your score to your adviser. If you communicate with your adviser by phone, please have your score available.
